Hull Truck Theatre welcomes the return of Barely Methodical Troupe with Bromance, a show which fuses high octane circus skills, acrobatics and contemporary dance in a celebration of male friendship. It follows their acclaimed performance of Kin at Hull Truck Theatre last year.
Relationships are at the heart of Bromance, where handshakes become handstands, and backslaps become backflips. Audacious, exhilarating, and with a great soundtrack, this is an exhilarating performance of cutting-edge physical heroics, wittily exploring male companionship and its limits.
Barely Methodical Troupe (Beren D’Amico, Louis Gift and Charlie Wheeller) mix their enjoyable personal chemistry and humour with exceptional skills in parkour, Bboying, tricking, hand-to-hand acrobatics, Cyr wheel and more.
Bromance was the show that launched Barely Methodical Troupe as one of the hottest circus acts in the UK. Since their formation, they have been winners of the 2013 Circus Maximus Award, the Total Theatre Award and the Jackson’s Lane Award for Circus at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2014.
Bromance is part of Hull Truck Theatre’s popular Drama Deal, offering bookers the chance to see more shows for less. Other shows in the Drama Deal are The Empty Nesters’ Club (18 – 22 April), Richard III (4 – 27 May), Mighty Atoms (8 June – 1 July) and Our Mutual Friend (16 – 19 August).
Mark Babych, Artistic Director at Hull Truck Theatre, says:
‘Barely Methodical Troupe are one of the most exciting and original contemporary circus companies you can see in the UK. Their performances are breathtaking; they make every movement seem completely effortless. This is circus as you’ve never seen it before.’
