THE UNDERTONES COMING TO YORK!

undertones 1 (142 x 199)

Having emerged from Derry in ’76, The Undertones are celebrating their 40th anniversary. They might have started out as “five friends learning how to play basic rock ‘n’ roll in the capital of nowhere,” but they went on to embrace worldwide gig schedules in packed-out venues and huge festivals.

“Teenage Kicks,” the tune consistently named by John Peel as his favourite tune ever (he played it twice, back-to-back, as soon as he heard it), was released on Sire Records, and it was followed by other big hits including “Here Comes The Summer,” “Jimmy Jimmy,” “My Perfect Cousin” and “Wednesday Week.”
